Product Description

Greygate Marble Wax is specially formulated for protecting and enhancing the appearance of marble.

Suitable for use on both natural and synthetic marble,

Marble Wax also works well on other stone surfaces, granite, slate, ceramic, porcelain.

The word “marble” derives from the Greek μάρμαρον (mármaron),  “crystalline rock, shining stone”

Marble is a metamorphic rock. It is formed from limestone that has gone through a process of recrystallisation through heat or pressure. This gives it a dense crystalline structure that makes a polished surface possible. Marble can vary in colour from the whites and creams of classical sculpture to pinks, greens, greys, browns and yellows. These variations are a result of mineral impurities in the original limestone. Although we usually think of marble as “hard,” it is a porous material. Left unsealed, spills and everyday messes can easily penetrate the surface. The liquid eventually evaporates but the stain is left behind.

Marble is easily stained and is etched by acids. Avoid setting beverage glasses directly on marble as they leave rings. Fruit juice, carbonated beverages or other acids will etch and remove the shiny surface if allowed to remain on marble. Wipe up acid spill immediately, and wipe surface with wet cloth. If surfaced is etched, polishing may be required. The best way to prevent stains is to treat the surface with a protective sealer. Marble Wax fills in the pores and repels spills on the surface, allowing you time to completely wipe it away.

Another source of damage to marble is gerneral household abrasive dust which Marble Wax gives protection against.

Greygate Marble Wax is made using the finest grade of Brazilian Carnauba with a blend of other waxes to give and protective layer of wax and give high gloss finish to your marble.

Which from a conservation point of view could if necessary in the future be removed using white spirit.

This product is not suitable for marble floors as it would be slippy, Greygate Liquid Floor Wax would be best for this application.

How To Use :

Apply sparingly with a clean cloth, rub out evenly over the surface. Then Polish off lightly with lint free cloth to give a high gloss finish and protection against water and dust. For carved surfaces a stiff brush is advantageous allowing you to apply and buff more easily.
